The festival gathered a large number of sponsors and media partners, which only shows the possibilities for organizing such and similar events and thus expanding the tourist and gastronomic offer of Herzegovina.
Since From Herzegovina with love is one of the festival’s media partners, we interviewed Diana Bošnjak, the organizer of the first Uštipak Fest.
How important is it to work on the gastronomic offer of a country? What exactly is an uštepka for Herzegovina?
The Herzegovinian ushtipak, as a dry and lean food, speaks of the modesty and poverty of the people and the harsh and stingy nature of the Herzegovinian region since ancient times.
The flavors of the Herzegovinian tradition provide a true experience of local dishes and drinks and are very specific, and this is where I see great potential for the development of our region.
That’s why we organize interesting events like Uštipak Fest.
This is a great tourist story with the aim of promoting the authentic Herzegovinian gastro-tourism offer, and we hope that we will not stop there.
You know that feeling when tourists ask in which restaurant they can taste local and autochthonous food, who makes the best Herzegovinian ushtipas and where they can taste them, and you don’t know where to tell them because such a story is simply not promoted enough?
It is precisely through this project that we want to achieve the opposite effect, to motivate restaurants for local gastronomic offer and to brand and promote traditional Herzegovinian snacks.
This is a very good way to get things started, to act and work in the direction of improving our micro and macro region, we encourage the development of tourism and the economy, and thus ultimately contribute to increasing the attractiveness of potential investors in the Herzegovina region.
