Europe Day is a European and Croatian commemorative day that is celebrated on the 9th. May. Namely, 9. May 1950 Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister at the time, presented his proposal for the formation of the European Coal and Steel Community, whose members would combine coal and steel production. That proposal, better known as the Schuman Declaration, is considered the beginning of the creation of the European Union.

Council of the European Union in Milan in 1985. made a decision on 9 May marks Europe Day every year. During that day, activities and festivals take place that bring Europe closer to its citizens. All European Union institutions are open to visitors on that day.
