Bažofija (Silba Island)
Ingredients:
- 2 handfuls of beans
- 2 handfuls of chickpeas
- 2 handfuls of corn
- salt
Preparation:
Clean and wash the beans, chickpeas and corn the night before and soak them in plenty of water. Boil everything in the morning, discard the first water and cook well. Drain the water and add salt. This is a basic, almost ritual dish that was eaten “dry”, without any spices. It was prepared on the island of Silba, only on Day of the Dead and eaten with hands between prayers.
