Sutlijaš is a dish that has been served and consumed for centuries. It is considered one of the oldest prepared dishes on planet Earth. The origin of the word sutlijaš comes from the Turkish word “süt”, which in our language means milk.
This dish is prepared in almost every culture, but in a different way. In the kitchens of Western and Northern Europe, sauces made from cinnamon or fried almonds are especially added to sutlijash, in Scandinavian countries it is served only on the occasion of New Year’s holidays. One of the varieties of sutlijash is made in Denmark and is called “Risalamande”, to which sweet cream is added. In many countries, sutlijash is produced industrially.
