Ingredients (for 5 meals):

  • 3 coots
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 7 peppercorns and a spoonful of salt
  • 3 carrots
  • 5 large potatoes

Preparation:

Pour water into the pot, and put the coots, laurel and spices. Cook for about an hour and a half, so that the coots soften. Add the vegetables and cook until the vegetables and coots are soft. Strain and slice the coots and arrange on top of the cooked vegetables. Season everything with coarse salt and drizzle with olive oil.

Serving:

It is served hot. Stewed sauerkraut can be served with coots.
