Sataraš (šarenilo okusa i boja)
Ingredients (for 4 meals):
- 1 kg of fresh paprika
- 2 large red onions
- 1 kg of fresh tomatoes
- pepper
- salt
- Vegeta
- 5 tablespoons of oil
Preparation:
Clean the pepper and cut it into small pieces, and onion into leaves. Peel and slice the tomato. Lightly saute onion in hot oil in a wide pan, add prepared pepper. When the pepper softens a little, mix in the tomato. Add the vegetables and continue stewing until all the liquid evaporates. Season with salt and steam. Eggplant, meat (stuffed or cut into small pieces), zucchini, carrots and garlic can be added to sastarash.
Serving:
Sataraš is served in several ways: as a warm appetizer or a small meal with various side dishes (with cheese and boiled potatoes, rice, schnitzels, puree,…)
Interesting facts about the dish:
The name sataraš probably comes from satura (Arabic), which means a butcher’s cleaver, and in this case it would mean to cut everything a little bit.
